Six Project Future refs chosen for visit to Premier League HQ (Monday, 08 February 2010 12:02)
KUALA LUMPUR: Six selected referees from the AFC Project Future programme embarked on a historic trip to England over the weekend to visit the refereeing headquarters of the English Premier League.
The delegation, led by AFC Project Future Referees Manager George Cumming, will spend a week in England, including training and lectures at the headquarters at Warwick University as well as watching two Premier League matches.
The six are Jarred Gillett (Australia), Mooud Bonyadifard (Iran), Fahad Jaber Al Meere (Qatar), Zhang Lei (China), Wang Di (China) and Adham Makhadmeh (Jordan). They are all from the 2007 Batch who graduated last November.
On Tuesday, the six will watch the match between Manchester City and Bolton Wanderers and then travel to Birmingham the next day for Aston Villa versus Manchester United.
They will also attend lectures by referees chief Keith Hackett and senior English referee Mike Riley. The trip will be completed on Saturday with a visit to Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium and the home of England’s national team, Wembley Stadium.
